Overview
Are you looking for an authentic tour to experience life along the Mekong River? The Mekong flows through six countries: Tibet, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. In Vietnam, this region is called Cửu Long, or “Nine Dragons,” referring to the river’s nine branches.
Life in the Mekong Delta is centered around its waterways, where traditional stilt houses, diverse religious practices, and floating markets stretch across river mouths and canals, blending naturally with local landscapes and communities.
Meanwhile, Kimmy’s Chocolatier produces some of Southern Vietnam’s finest handcrafted chocolate in Tiền Giang, using locally sourced cocoa, offering visitors a truly unique and memorable experience.
Tour Itinerary:
- Guests will experience the local agricultural lifestyle both on land and on water.
- Paddle along a peaceful canal on a traditional boat.
- Sample chocolates made at a local factory, gaining insight into how people in the Mekong River region produce their artisanal treats.
- Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with fresh, locally sourced organic ingredients.
- The most exciting part of the trip includes a cooking class, kayaking on the river, and cycling around the village.
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be – Vinh Long
Pick up guests at your hotel between 7:00 – 7:30 AM. Travel on the highway for approximately two hours, enjoying the view of lush rice fields and tropical fruit orchards in the Mekong Delta.
- Kimmy Chocolate Factory is a rest stop. Local farmers carefully grow and tend the cocoa plants, so you can see how the locals produce chocolate.
- Upon arriving in Cai Be, you will witness locals making traditional products such as puffed rice cakes, rice wine, rice paper, and coconut candy.
- We then return to our boat and head to another location, where we enjoy a basket boat ride through fruit orchards, mangrove apple trees, and coconut palms.
- Visit a local fruit garden to taste some seasonal tropical fruits, listen to traditional folk songs, see a bee farm, and enjoy a cup of hot honey tea.
Join a cooking class and enjoy lunch at a local thatched-roof restaurant, featuring delicious Mekong spring rolls, deep-fried giant tilapia, fresh seasonal fruits, and more. During this time, you can take a nap on a hammock, paddle a kayak, or cycle around the village.
